Holiday Pet Food Drive

Now in its sixth year, the Veterinary Specialty Hospital encourages us to help raise food for the lovely cats and dogs. All cat and dog items will be donated to San Diego Food Bank and will be distributed to the local nonprofit partners including local soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries, rehabilitation centers, low-income day care centers, and disability programs. 


WINTER BREAK CAMP

LA JOLLA KAYAK CAVE TOUR

C2 EDUCATION OF LA JOLLA: GRAND OPENING

When: Saturday, January 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: C2, 8861 Villa La Jolla Drive, La Jolla

Join the grand opening celebration of C2 Education, a network of subject tutoring, SAT, ACT, and PSAT test-prep and education-support centers,  next to Snooze an A.M. Eatery. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by a live radio remote featuring STAR 94.1 KMYI Morning DJ Jessie Lozano. Take part on the local meet and greet of C2 team,  learn about C2’s tutoring program and get a chance to be one of the lucky winners of the special drawing for a $1000 C2 scholarship. All entrants for the prize drawing who are not current C2 students will be receiving a one-time free assessment exam and one free tutoring session just for entering the contest.


COFFEE AND CONVERSATION WITH OMA ARTIST ALLIANCE

GARDEN TAPESTRIES: RAMSES WISSA WASSEF ART CENTER

When: Monday, January 8, 4 p.m.

Where: San Diego Botanic Garden 230 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, 92024

Tapestries from the Ramses Wissa Wassef Art Centre in Egypt will be showcased where the Egyptian artists vividly celebrate the flowers of the desert, villages, and Nile River in their work. Such tapestries are uniquely woven by individual artists, who worked for up to four months on each tapestry. Dyed with traditional vegetable dyes, is where The Egyptian sheep wool is made of these vegetable dyes are planted in the gardens of the art center in Giza. 


COMMUNITY HISTORIAN PROGRAM: FREE TUESDAY LECTURES

Watch a Community Historian presentation at 1 pm in the Thornton Theater. Where each lecture is free with “Give Forward” admission. The Community Historians are trained volunteers and staff who bring their passion for San Diego history to spread out into your community meetings and organizations through informative talks. Speakers can introduce visitors and tourists to San Diego history or can dive deep into the details of a unique San Diego topic.


CARVING A LIFE

The red carpet and screening of inspirational drama romance indie film Carving a Life, produced in San Diego. It is the San Diego premier which was released Oct 13 with a limited theatrical release in Hollywood. Get the chance to meet the cast and crew and walk the red carpet. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Smart Recovery San Diego, a non-profit that offers self-empowering (non 12-step) addiction recovery support meetings in San Diego.

They will get the chance to meet a rabbit, frog, and bird plus get a behind the scenes tour of their practice surgical suturing of incisions on a teaching tool, equine hospital, and learn to practice fundamental CPR techniques on a canine training mode.

MLK Day Critter Camp gives a chance to kids in San Diego to meet a variety of animals while learning why each critter deserves the compassion they long for. MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY CELEBRATION

VCTA DALEY RANCH HIKE
